Background:
Mr. Dawson is currently a General Partner at the Dorado Development Group. He last served as Executive Vice President Global Network and Chief Engineer at Global Crossing, and prior to that he served as Chief Executive Officer, Atlantic Crossing. Mr. Dawson has broad management experience in a number of critical areas involving digital lightwave undersea cable systems. Prior to joining Global Crossing, Mr. Dawson spent 29 years at AT&T where he held numerous positions in the area of undersea cable systems and in the development and implementation of AT&T Switched Services and Data Networking Services. At AT&T Submarine Systems, Inc., he had overall delivery responsibility for implementation of all submarine cable projects. He first joined Bell Laboratories in 1968 and became associated with AT&T Long Lines 11 years later. His initial work centered on specialized equipment design for military and commercial undersea cable systems. A registered professional engineer and member of Tau Beta Pi and Eta Kappa Nu, Mr. Dawson holds a B.E.E. from the University of Virginia and an M.S.E.E. from Duke University. He also completed the advanced management program at INSEAD, Fontainebleau, France.
